Elon Musk says AI and robotics will grow the economy faster than anything in history, and that this is the only way out of the debt crisis. He also says it will fund a Universal High Income. Pick a growth forecast, design a UHI, and see what the federal books look like over the next 25 years.
Trillions of nominal dollars, by fiscal year. Hover for values.
Below the 100% line, GDP is larger than the debt. This ratio is what lenders and rating agencies watch.
Total taxes at all levels of government, as a share of GDP, if the UHI were paid for with taxes instead of borrowing.

AI and robotics are "pretty much the only thing" that can solve the U.S. debt crisis, with the turning point in "three years or less."
"Double-digit growth is coming within 12 to 18 months... triple-digit is possible in ~5 years."
"I'd say the economy is 10 times the current size in 10 years."
"My guess is that AI roughly doubles US GDP growth next year from ~2% to ~4%. Maybe even more."
On the UHI, Musk posted on April 17, 2026 that it would be "Universal HIGH INCOME" paid by the federal government and funded by an "increase in the money supply." He has not given a payment amount, a start date, or a cost.
Each year, the debt grows by the interest owed on it plus the gap between spending and revenue:
debt(t) = debt(t-1) × (1 + rate)
+ spending(t) − revenue(t)
+ UHI(t) if borrowed
